I am 72 and a life-long resident of Ashland Ohio. One of my favorite places in Ashland is our public library.

An avid reader since I was first old enough to read, as a kid my dad would take me before I was old enough to walk there from home by myself. I just enjoyed all the books and was proud to be an advanced reader.

I have loved seeing our small town library grow over the years and offer so many services that weren’t around when I was young. We have a real treasure for all in our town.

July 14 I went to the library board meeting to see for myself what all the fuss was about. Porn for 5-year-olds?

I came away from the meeting appalled with the inaccuracies the opposition was accusing the library and board of doing.

What ran through my head the most through the three speakers speeches was: 5-year-olds? Seriously? Who is in charge of kids that young?

I would hope that task falls to the caregivers and or parents of 5-year-olds. I remember my own daughter at five and was my job to watch over her.

In closing, I want to thank the Ashland Public Library and the Board for standing tall. You have my support.
