ASHLAND -- The Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce would like to pay tribute to the recent passing of both Dennis O. Gerwig, and Cynthia (Cindy) Gerwig, the second generation owners of Gerwig's White Barn.
Dennis and his wife, Cindy, were partners in business, just as in life, and owned and operated the family business together. They worked tirelessly to support their employees, as well as their customers.
As of Jan. 14, 2021, Gerwig's White Barn will carry on with the third generation of family owners and operators for their 70th year of business in the Ashland community.
"My dad was the best father and boss I have ever known," Dennis Gerwig II said. ""I will carry on his and my grandfather's legacy for as long as possible and with the addition of my 3-month old son, we hope and pray there will be a fourth generation as well.
"Thank you all for your support during the past 70 years (this year marks our 70th year in business). Being a product of Mapleton Local Schools, and born and raised here, my love for this community is just as strong as my father's.
"My dad's wish was that anyone that wants to send flowers, make a donation to the Ashland County Cancer Association instead. Thank you all and I look forward to serving all of you just like my grandfather and father."
To the Gerwig Family, the Ashland Chamber stated," The Ashland Chamber is praying for your strength and healing at this time. May God continue to bless your family and your business. We thank you for 52 years of unwavering support of the Ashland Chamber!"
