A well a bless my soul
What's wrong with me?
I'm itching like a man on a fuzzy tree
My friends say I'm actin' wild as a bug
I'm in love—
I’m all shook up
These lyrics, capturing the enthusiasm and excitement of new love, are also from the title track of the musical that will be Ashland High School theater’s 64th annual production, the jukebox musical featuring the music of Elvis Presley — All Shook Up.
Loosely inspired by Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night, All Shook Up is set in 1955 in a little square town in a square little state, where a young guitar-playing man changes everyone he meets. This hip-swiveling, lip-curling musical fantasy will have you tapping your blue suede shoes to such classics as “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Hound Dog,” “Jailhouse Rock,” and “Don’t be Cruel.”
The original Broadway production ran for 213 shows in 2005.
The large cast features Senior Luke Blackley (Chad) and Junior Maiyah Lewis (Natalie/Ed). It also stars seniors Liam Harper, Leanna Uselton, Clara Kral, Grace Bryant, and Rylie Hildebrand; juniors Leona Brown, Ella Wesner, Nelia Alvarez, and Sophia Wood; and sophomores Aiden Chandler and Owen Radebaugh.
Production dates are Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 23 at 2 p.m. in Archer Auditorium. Reserved center seats are $8 and reserved side seats are $6.
Tickets are on sale school days from 3:15 to 5:15 p.m. in the AHS main office. Or you can contact Producer Rich Wasowski at firstname.lastname@example.org or 419.289.7968 x3128. There will be no ticket sales on Presidents Day (or snow days).
