AU Homecoming

Ashland University celebrates its 141st annual Homecoming by crowning the King and Queen at halftime of Saturday's 1 p.m. football game against Davenport.

ASHLAND -- Ashland University's 141st Homecoming includes a slew of festivities this weekend.

While some events are tailored to students and alumni of AU, other events welcome the whole community. All events are centered around the 96th annual Homecoming football game against Davenport that will kick off at 1 p.m. Saturday at Jack Miller Stadium.

The AU Department of Theatre will show its production of Arthur Miller’s “An Enemy of the People” at the Hugo Young Theatre all weekend. Dates and times for the showings are: Friday, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m. Tickets are available through the box office at 419.289.5125 from noon-6 p.m. or online at

The following events will occur on Saturday as apart of the Homecoming festivities.

5K Fun Run- 8:15 a.m. check-in or sign up in front of the AU Rec Center; race kicks off at 9:30 a.m. for runners/walkers.

Participants are asked to bring a canned good for the Ashland County Food Back instead of paying an entrance fee.

Athletic Hall of Fame Brunch: 9:30 a.m.; Faculty Room in John C. Myers Convocation Center.

Those being honored are Alanna Bedingfield, basketball (class of 2004); Morris Furman, football (class of 1992); Josh Gaub, baseball (class of 2004); Bill Goldring, director of athletics (1998-2014); Reggie Johnson, wrestling (class of 1983); Bryan Vickers, track (class of 2007, MBA 2010); and Lynsey Warren, volleyball (class of 2008, MBA 2010). Mary Miller will also be given the “Eagle Forever Award” for her involvement in the athletic community.

President’s Coffee: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Eagles Nest located in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center.

Attendees will have an opportunity to speak with AU President Dr. Carlos Campo who will also provide a campus update at 11 a.m.

Pizza, Pizza, Pizza Fan Fest/Pregame Tailgates- 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; lawn between the Rec Center and the Hawkins-Conard Student Center and Jack Miller Stadium lawn.

Ashland pizzerias will be on hand serving free pizza. The festival will also include a number of activities such as cotton candy, bounce houses for children, face painting and more.

AU vs. Davenport football game at 1 p.m.; Jack Miller Stadium.

The homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime.

All-Alumni Party: 3 to 5 p.m.; Eagles Nest located in the Hawkins-Conard Student Center.

Fellow alumni and friends are welcome to this gathering which will include live music from the local band Tom’s Kitchen Table, catering from the university and a free photo booth.

Celebration of Every Individual: 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.; John C. Myers Convocation Center.

This is a special event for AU alumni, faculty, staff and friends which will include dinner, a cash bar and storytelling experiences from those who have been involved at AU in some shape or form. Registration has been closed for the event, but more information can be found at
