SHELBY -- In December the Shelby Future Farmers of America did it’s annual fruit sale, receiving $3,050 worth of donations.

The FFA was able to distribute fruit to many families in the Shelby area, groups of FFA students delivered the fruit to random families throughout Shelby.

In addition, the Shelby Future Farmers of America club has released its list of top senior students over the past month.

The students were recognized on a weekly basis.

This week's FFA student of the week is Madison Parks, her parents are Joni and Andy Parks. Maddie has shown steer, feeder calves, ducks, pigs for five years, babysitting, get started in art twice, Financing, workforce ready, Graphic design, woodworking, sewing twice, shopping savvy, collection, leadership 1 and 2, kitchen chemistry, photography.

She has also participated and earned her Greenhand, Chapter, State degree, Livestock Judging, Job Interview, Parli Pro, T-shirt Committee, Fruit committee, designed fruit packet, Banquet Committee, FFA Reporter, Historian, Trash pick up, Tornado picks up, farmer share breakfast, Community breakfast, soup and sandwich, OSU hockey game, Texas trip, field day, tailgate day, help unload cooks chickens, Alumni cookout, hurricane relief.

Her most memorable moment in FFA is all the fun and exciting things I got to learn and see when we would go on our trips to Denver Colorado, and Fort Worth, Texas. Her plans after high school are to go to school for graphic design and Agriculture communications.

This week's FFA student of the week is Brandon Lewis. His parents are Tom and Stephanie Lewis.

Brandon has shown pigs steers feeder calves beef breeding market goats and breeding goats. He has also participated in general livestock and Parli pro and has been treasure along with sentinel.

His most memorable moment in FFA is his freshman year after the parli pro contest we drove back and I was with some older members and it was nice to get to know them and I’ll never forget giving Eric’s number to a waitress that was missing just about every tooth.

His plans after high school are to build my goat’s herd and produce elite club goats and to also work as a heavy diesel mechanic.

This week's FFA student of the week is Jacob Harrison. His parents are Brian and Ashley Harrison.

Jacob takes market turkeys to the fair. Jacob has earned his scholarship pin and leadership pin, he has participated in paril pro and poultry judging.

Jacob's favorite FFA moment was going on the Denver trip his junior year and FFA officer retreat. Jacob is unsure of his plans after highs school.
