ASHLAND — The Rotary Club of Ashland is offering children fun packs for the Independence Day fireworks show.
The new addition to the festivities will include glow sticks, bendable neon toys, hacky sack balls, bubbles, candy and popcorn.
Packs are available to the first 200 children who show up from noon to 4 p.m. on July 2 at the Rotary tent in the parking lot of Armstrong Cable, 1215 Claremont Ave.
The Rotary Club of Ashland raised $17,500 for the fireworks show this year. They will be fired off around 9:15 p.m. on July 4 at Community Stadium off Katherine Avenue.
The Rotary will also sell 50/50 super raffle tickets online and at Armstrong Cable. The deadline to buy is 5 p.m. July 2. Tickets cost $100 each and only 150 are available for sale.
The stadium's grandstand, like last year, will be closed to seating. Spectators are encouraged to sit along nearby streets and in parking lots.
The City of Ashland, the event's host, said in a Facebook post there will be no seating in the vicinity of Community Stadium, the tree lawn along the south side of Katherine Avenue and restrooms will not be open at the stadium or the Wygant Fieldhouse.
