ASHLAND -- A Wednesday afternoon ribbon cutting helped 9th Street Dental in Ashland celebrate the reopening of the fully-refurbished dental facility.
During the remodeling process, even some employees donated their time to paint the interior of the building. The complex also received new branding from Spyder Signs.
“This is the third time I’ve been here for a ribbon cutting," said Ashland mayor Matt Miller. "Dr. Dorothy Stratton, more than 20 years ago, was on a mission to provide dental services to all people in the community of Ashland and Ashland County.
"She and her late husband, Dr. John Stratton, were a dynamic team that worked tirelessly with Cindy Payne to go after grant after grant after grant to be able to offer dental service to people of all incomes here in this community."
The interior features state-of-the-art equipment and hardwood flooring.
Dr. Shelby Rohr, 9th Street Dental's primary dentist, was thrilled when she found out that this Ashland location was opening up, as she grew up and currently lives in the area.
“It’s so exciting,” she said. “It’s been in the works for quite a while, so it feels really nice to finally be here.”
Dr. David Hoag, Chief Dental Officer at Third Street Family Health Services, Shelby Health and Wellness, and 9th Street Dental Clinic, reflected on the journey to reopening.
“We’ve gone through CEO changes; we’ve gone through the coronavirus; we’ve gone through physical plant issues," Hoag said. "Here we are finally, but it does start with Dr. Dorothy Stratton and with really dedicated people who actually get the job done.”
Hoag stated the crew has been rigorously toiling at the project for over a year. He also took time to thank Peggy Anderson, the new CEO, for keeping the entire vision alive.
One of the most important things that the office wants people to know is that they are there for everyone, even those who may be struggling financially.
“We’ve got good providers, we’ve got good staff, and we have good processes set up for those who can’t afford to get access to care,” Anderson said. “We just have such a knowledgeable staff who can help link them with other resources they may need.”
Ultimately, the staff at 9th Street Dental want their future patients to feel comfortable, confident and stress-free as soon as they step foot into the office.
“We strive to create a comfortable environment for everyone,” Rohr said. “I know going to the dentist isn’t always everyone's favorite thing to do, but we want everyone to feel comfortable and realize that it can be fun.”
9th Street Dental is located at 431 E. 9th Street in Ashland and is open from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.
