ASHLAND -- At Tuesday evening’s council meeting, Ashland City Council approved an two contract modifications for a combined $495,000. 

Ashland City Council approved an additional $270,000 for the US 250/I-71 Water and Sanitary Sewer Extension Project and an additional $225,000 for the 2020 Street Resurfacing Project. 

The first contract modification will address unforeseen site dewatering conditions or the US 250/I-71 Water and Sanitary Sewer Extension Project by allowing 24 more dewatering wells to be constructed, according to Mayor Matt Miller.

The modification brings the total project cost to $1.9 million. The original estimate for this project was more than $2.7 million.  

The legislation allows the mayor and director of public service to enter the contract modification with Driven Excavating. 

The $225,000 for the 2020 Street Resurfacing Project is for additional work by Kokosing Construction. The project was originally estimated to cost $510,215.
