ASHLAND -- Ashland Police Chief David Lay presented three officers for promotion on Tuesday.

The chief shared these thoughts on the individuals, including Timothy Atchison, Aaron Kline and Craig Kiley:

"The Ashland Police Division is pleased to present three officers for promotion.

"Timothy Atchison will be taking the oath for Sergeant. In addition to his five years of service to the Ashland community, Tim is a Staff Sergeant in the Army Reserves. Tim and his partner Robbie are currently one of our two working dog teams. In his new role, Tim will be a first line supervisor assigned to C Squad.

"Aaron Kline will be taking the oath for Lieutenant. Aaron served in the Marine Corps and is a fourteen year veteran with the Division. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2019. Aaron has experience as a Detective assigned to the METRICH Enforcement Unit and is currently a member of the Special Response Team. As Lieutenant, he will be responsible for leading two squads of officers working the night shifts.

"Craig Kiley will be taking the oath for Captain. Craig is a twenty year veteran with the Division. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2017 and Lieutenant in 2020. Over the course of his career, he has held positions as a K9 handler and detective. As Captain, he will be responsible for coordinating operations between Patrol, Investigations and Records, ensuring that the three bureaus share information while producing a consistent work product. Craig will also assist with the day-to-day administrative duties inside the Division.

"It is my expectation that they will work to influence and guide the officers of the Ashland Police Division toward maintaining a high level of service to the citizens of this City," Lay said.
