MILTON TOWNSHIP – An Ashland woman was seriously injured after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday at the intersection of Ohio 603 and County Road 1475, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Carmen M. Liederbach, 64, of Ashland, was originally transported to Ohio Health Mansfield before being transported by Med-Flight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus.

According to the Patrol, at approximately 4:34 p.m., Liederbach was traveling eastbound on County Road 1475 in a 2013 Nissan X-terra. Kyle W. Bernhard, 33, of Shiloh, was southbound on Ohio 603 in a 2004 International Semi-Tractor.

The Patrol reported that Liederbach failed to yield the right of way as she attempted to cross over Ohio 603. Liederbach was struck by Bernhard within the intersection. After impact, Liederbach went off the left side of the roadway and overturned. Liederbach had to be extracted from the vehicle by mechanical means.

Bernard was not injured in the crash. The Patrol stated that drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the traffic crash.

Seatbelts were worn by both Liederbach and Bernard.

The traffic crash remains under investigation.

The Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Ashland City Fire and EMS, Ohio Motor Carrier Enforcement Inspector’s, Bate’s Towing and Aber’s Towing.
