Ohio State Highway Patrol car

BAUGHMAN TOWNSHIP – A Dalton man was killed Friday morning after a two-vehicle crash in Wayne County, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred at approximately 8:33 a.m. on hours on Township Road 130 (Tannerville Rd) at Township Road 300 (Fosnight Road) in Baughman Township in Wayne County.

Arthur J. Lustig, 65, of Dalton, Ohio was operating a 1974 Harley Davidson FX motorcycle. Lustig was pronounced dead on scene by the Wayne County Coroner Office. He Lwas wearing his helmet at the time of the crash.

Justin A. Erwin, 32, Orrville, Ohio was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. Mr. Erwin was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Mr. Erwin was wearing his safety belt.

This is the third fatal crash in Wayne County for 2019 and the second fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

According to the Initial investigation, the Patrol stated that revealed Erwin was westbound on Fosnight Road and stopped at the stop sign at the intersection of Tannerville Road. Lustig was northbound on Tannerville Road approaching the intersection of Fosnight Road.

The Patrol said Erwin failed to yield from the stop sign and pulled into the path of Lustig. Lustig's motorcycle struck the driver’s side of Erwin’s vehicle.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol Crash Reconstruction Unit assisted at the scene along with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. Orrville Fire and EMS and Accelerated Towing were on scene.

Alcohol and drugs are not suspected as factors in this crash.
