MANSFIELD — Wednesday’s episode of In Pursuit With John Walsh, airing on Jan. 29 at 10 p.m. on Investigation Discovery, will feature a segment on convicted killer Lester Eubanks, of Mansfield.

In 1965, 14-year-old Mary Ellen Deener was brutally assaulted and killed just blocks from her home in Mansfield. Lester Eubanks confessed and was quickly convicted of the crime and given the death penalty. But, in 1973, Eubanks was allowed by his prison handlers to be unsupervised as a reward for good behavior … and he quickly vanished into thin air.

In the decades since, Eubanks has never been found and authorities believe he’s created an entirely new identity for himself. Investigators and Mary Ellen’s family have never given up hope that Eubanks will be caught and made to face justice.

They all hope that the airing on In Pursuit will help shine a new light on the bizarre disappearance of the convicted killer to bring him to justice.

Lester Eubanks is now 76 years old and still considered extremely dangerous. He’s a child killer who’s likely hiding in plain sight. He still has relatives in Mansfield, but he could be anywhere. Attached is an age-progression photo of Eubanks for your reference, and the video segment can be found here: https://discovery.box.com/s/lm705l2obu8kqk6zxqpkub20ogk4rl08
