MANSFIELD -- There are numerous events taking place throughout the area for the 25th anniversary of The Shawshank Redemption, which was shot in various locations in and around north central Ohio.
Listed below is the schedule:
Friday, Aug. 16
From 10 a.m. to noon, KV Market, now standing at the location of the grocery store characters Brooks Hatlen and Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding bagged groceries after being released from the Shawshank Prison, will have a Red-character look-alike. KV Market is located at 359 W. Fourth Street.
From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Pugh Cabin at Malabar Farm State Park, where the opening scene was filmed, features Scott Mann, who played the golf pro, and Renee Blaine, who played Andy Dufesne's wife, Linda Dufesne, will be signing autographs. This event is free.
From 1 to 3 p.m., on Butler's Snyder Road and Hagerman Road, there will be a photo opportunity with a Red look-alike.
From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m., the Crosby Advisory Group (Maine National Bank,) located at 19 W. Main Street in Ashland, will have Shawshank bank teller Claie Slemmer signing autographs free of charge.
From 4 to 5 p.m. at Theatre 166 (next to Renaissance Theatre) there will be a background actors panel discussion. This event is free.
Between 6 and 7 p.m., there will be a cast and crew panel before the screening of The Shawshank Redemption. A $25 movie ticket will include the cost of this event. The movie will run from 7:15 to 10 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 17:
From 7:30 to 9:30 a.m., a Red look-alike will be at Carrousel Antiques, where Red looked at a pistol in a pawnshop window. The store is located at 118 N. Main St. in Mansfield.
At that same time, the Shawshank Hustle 7k will start at The Ohio State Reformatory, 100 Reformatory Road.
At 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Pugh Cabi,n Scott Mann and Renee Blain will be back with an Andy look-alike and car from the movie for a meeting at the visitor center and wagon ride to the cabin.
From 11 a.m. to noon, Clair Slemmer will be signing autographs at Crosby Advisory Group (Maine National Bank,) 19 W. Main St., Ashland. This will be a free event.
1:30 to 3 p.m., a Shawshank Meet and Greet will take place at the Ohio State Reformatory, 100 Reformatory Road. A ticket is required.
Sunday, Aug. 18:
11 a.m. to noon, there will be Shawshank authors panel discussion held at Ohio State Reformatory in the central guard room. This event is included with a tour ticket.
From noon to 1 p.m., there will be a background-actors panel discussion in the central guard room of the Ohio State Reformatory. This event is included with a tour ticket.
