ASHLAND COUNTY -- A 53-year-old Mansfield man was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident early Wednesday morning, according to the Ashland Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The wreck occurred at 5:07 a.m. on Ohio 3 near Hanover Township Road 3275, according to the patrol.
Jim R. Hawk was northbound on Ohio 3, operating a 2009 Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager 1700, according to troopers. The motorcycle went off the right side of the road and struck a guardrail before overturning and ejecting the driver, the patrol said.
Hawk sustained serious injuries in the crash and was taken by medical helicopter to Akron General Hospital.
Hawk was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, according to troopers, who said alcohol and/or drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Troopers said they were assisted at the crash scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Loudonville Police Department, and Loudonville Fire & EMS.
The crash is still under investigation, according to the patrol.
