Ohio State Highway Patrol car

PERRY TWP — State Troopers with the Ashland Post of the Highway Patrol are currently investigating an injury crash that occurred on U.S. 42 at S.R. 89 on June 27th, at approximately 4:35 p.m.

Upon arrival on scene, State Troopers observed two vehicles off of the roadway on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Denise Beursken, age 44, of Ashland, was northbound on State Route 89. Buersken was operating a red 2007 Chevrolet Aveo. Sarah Gentry, age 60, of West Salem, was traveling northeast on U.S. Route 42. Gentry was operating a red 2013 Subaru Crosstrek.

Denise Beursken failed to yield the right of way as she drove across U.S. Route 42 on State Route 89. Buersken and Gentry were both wearing safety belts at the time of the crash. There were no passengers in either vehicle. Gentry was treated and released locally with minor injuries. Beursken was transported to Ashland Samaritan and then transported by Life Flight to University Hospital in Cleveland with non-life threating injuries.

Drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in this crash.

The Ashland Highway Patrol Post was assisted on scene by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office, Polk/Jackson Fire & EMS, Aber’s Towing, and White’s Towing.
