GREEN TOWNSHIP -- A Kentucky man was killed early Tuesday morning after a two-vehicle crash on State Route 585 in Green Township, according to the Wooster Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Teague W. Curless, 21, of Lexington, Kentucky was pronounced dead at Aultman Orrville Hospital, the Patrol stated.

The incident occurred at approximately 3:51 a.m. in Green Township on Ohio 585, south of Fox Lake Road.

According to the Patrol, Curless was operating 2004 Toyota Solara. Daniel R. White, 71, of Smithville, Ohio was operating a 2017 Mack semi-tractor tanker. 

Initial investigation revealed White was traveling north on State Route 585. Curless was traveling south on State Route 585 and was attempting to pass a semi-tractor trailer when he struck White head on. After impact, both vehicles came to final rest off the south side of the roadway.

White suffered minor injuries, was treated at the scene and released.

Alcohol and/or drugs do appear to be a factor at this time, the Patrol stated in a press release. The crash remains under investigation.

Both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

Assisting on scene were the Wayne County Sheriff's Department, Smithville Police Department, Orrville Fire/EMS, and North End Garage.

This is the eighth fatal crash in Wayne County this year.
