ASHLAND -- Two people were arrested Friday morning after a drug raid was completed by a joint operation of multiple authorities in Ashland.

According to Lt. John Simmons of the Ashland Police Department, a search warrant was served in the 600 block of Arthur Street. Two people were arrested in connection with the residence. The names of those individuals were not disclosed by authorities.

Simmons said police seized suspected heroin, drug paraphernalia, drug abuse instruments and evidence related to drug trafficking.

Detectives from the Ashland Police and Ashland County Sheriff's Office assigned to the METRICH Enforcement Unit and the Ashland Special Response Team were all involved in the operation.

The search warrant was a result of an ongoing investigation regarding possible drug trafficking and drug use at the location, Simmons said.

The case is being forwarded to the Ashland County Prosecutor's Office for review,
