(UPDATED AT 2:38 P.M.) ASHLAND — The body of a Mansfield woman, identified Wednesday afternoon as Tina L. Goad, has been found and a man is being held by police in connection with the incident, according to Ashland Police Chief David Marcelli.

Goad’s body was identified by the Ashland County Coroner’s Office in a press release issued Wednesday afternoon.  According to Goad’s Facebook page, she had attended Mansfield Senior and was single.

She was located in a wooded area in Ashland County, Marcelli stated in a Wednesday morning press release. The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation is processing the scene along with Ashland County Coroner’s Office.

The name of the male is being withheld because he has not been charged and is presumed innocent, Ashland Police said.

Authorities said on Tuesday at 2:15 a.m., WARCOG dispatch center received a call from a concerned family member that his male relative called him and admitted he had picked up a woman in an Ashland bar and then killed her. According to the Ashland Police Department, officers and detectives worked throughout the morning to locate the man’s vehicle at numerous locations.

“On the afternoon of Tuesday, Jan. 26, we received a report of a missing female resident of Mansfield, Ohio. The female was last seen at a bar in Ashland on the evening of Jan. 25, and left with a white male,” the press release stated.

“Detectives worked throughout the day and into the night to locate both subjects. The male was located in Cleveland, and accompanied detectives back to Ashland. He is being held pending a review of possible charges.”

Marcelli’s press release noted that no further information will be released at this time. Additional information may be released as it becomes available.
