Vacant house on 4th Street in Ashland to be demolished

Bill Harvey, the land bank’s director, said the city wanted it down in 2022 because it was a safety hazard and a public nuisance.

“(The city) gave them 30 days. Well, the owners called me with a couple days left and we were able to work a deal to get it torn down,” he said.

The land bank agreed to pay an Ohio sales tax lien worth $277.78. Along with $817.25 in closing costs, the cost to tear down the house will be just under $15,000.

Harvey said the house will be demolished by Page Excavating in the next 30 days.

Once the house is gone, the empty lot will be offered to adjoining neighbors for $500.
