SHELBY -- An 81-year-old Plymouth man was killed Thursday morning when the motorcycle he was driving collided with a vehicle on Ohio 61, north of State Street.

Larry Vredenburgh was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Mansfield Post of the Highway Patrol.

Troopers said the crash occurred at 7:38 a.m. occurred when a 2014 Ford Edge was southbound on Ohio 61, traveled left of center and collided with a 1996 BMW-K1100 motorcycle traveling northbound on Ohio 61.

The driver of the Ford was Kevin Kitzmiller, 51, of Shelby. Kitzmiller was not injured in the crash and remained at the scene, troopers said.

Shelby Police Department, Shelby Fire and EMS, and the Richland County Coroner's assisted at the scene. Ohio 61 was closed for approximately three hours.

Alcohol and drugs are not factor in the crash, which remains under investigation, troopers said.
