Today we celebrate a uniquely American tradition all about family and gratitude.
I hope that you and your family are able to gather together today and give thanks for all of the blessings God has given us.
As you carve the turkey, watch football, and enjoy all the other family traditions that come this season, take time to appreciate our shared American story. We have come a long way since our nation's founding, and there is still a lot of work left to do.
It’s a tradition in many of our households to talk politics around the Thanksgiving table. It is something my family enjoys and is a great sign that we care about the future of our state and nation and actively embrace the responsibility of active citizenship.
When you do though, I have a challenge for you. Remember there is so much more that unites us than those things which divide us.
Let’s be civil, thoughtful and kind in our discourse with family and friends this Thanksgiving. I pray that we may be able to bring that togetherness beyond the dinner table and back to the civic life of our nation!
One topic many of us may discuss is election integrity. It’s a good thing that we all, regardless of our political beliefs, care deeply about the integrity of our elections! Take a moment to educate yourself about the safeguards Ohio uses to protect the ballot box at VoteOhio.gov/Secure.
The Buckeye State is a national leader in secure and convent elections, truly the gold standard other states should emulate! This is something for which we can all be thankful!
From my family to yours, I wish all of you a safe and Happy Thanksgiving!
Yours in service,
- Frank LaRose
