CLYDE β€” Ashland coach Sean Seder has his Arrows wrestling their best at just the right time.

Led by individual champs Case George and Jake Bever, Ashland won a team title at the Division II Clyde sectional tournament Saturday.

The Arrows finished with 201 points, two better than runner-up Bellevue (199). Clyde (152), Tiffin Columbian (147) and Upper Sandusky (123) rounded out the top five.

β€œWe feel like we’re in a pretty good place,” Seder said after the Arrows finished second at last week’s Ohio Cardinal Conference meet in Wooster. β€œNext week starts our second season and we’ve always done a pretty good job of peaking at the right time. Hopefully we’ll continue to do that.”

George won the title at 120 pounds, pinning Bellevue’s Jayden Mayes in 1:39. Bever scored a 9-5 decision over Galion’s John Abouhassan in the finals at 285.

In addition to George and Bever, seven other Ashland wrestlers qualified for next week’s district meet at Norwalk.

North central Ohio produced five other sectional champs. Clear Fork’s pinned Madison’s Ted Haring in the finals at 113, while Mansfield Senior’s Josh Lyons earned a 4-3 decision over Tiffin Columbian’s Maddox Simcoe at 132. Madison’s Nate Barrett earned a 7-3 decision over Clyde’s Derick Coleman at 160, while Ontario’s Cody Mies beat Shelby’s Nathan Zehner 6-1 at 195 and Clear Fork’s Landon Smith earned an 8-5 decision over Mansfield Senior’s Mekhi Bradley at 220.

Ashland’s Roman Parobek (106), Ontario’s Colton Turnbaugh (145) and Ethan Turnbaugh (152), Madison’s Trenton Osborne (170) and Ashland’s Jakob Beverly (182) also were runners-up Saturday.
