Hillsdale running back Ty Williams heads into the endzone for a 7yd touchdown run during the second quarter of Friday night's playoff game vs Campbell Memorial

ASHLAND -- Quarterback Caden Mutchler threw two touchdown passes to Justin Ziegler, Ty Williams ran for two TDs and the Hillsdale defense scored while recording a shutout as the Falcons buried Campbell Memorial 51-0 in a Division VI, Region 21 playoff opener on Saturday night at Ashland's Community Stadium.

The Red Devils, seeded 21st, took a two-hour bus ride before being rudely dismissed from the postseason.

The 12th-seeded Falcons climbed on top 7-0 when Mutchler and Ziegler connected on a 37-yard scoring play at the 2:08 mark of the first quarter. It was all the points a rigid Hillsdale defense would need, but an offensive avalanche followed anyway.

In the second period, Williams peeled off TD runs of 12 and 92 yards to stake the Falcons to a 22-0 halftime advantage.

Brandon Reardon got loose for a 52-yard touchdown dash and Mutchler hooked up with Ziegler on a 17-yard scoring pass to make it 37-0 and trigger a running clock in the third quarter.

Jake Hoverstock added a 7-yard TD bolt and Mark Abel returned a fumble 7 yards for a touchdown to finish the scoring.

Hillsdale (4-3) dominated statistically, too. The Falcons owned the night in first downs (17-8), rushing yards (267-123), passing yards (91-15) and total yards (358 to 138). Williamson speaerheaded the attack by rushing for 144 yards, while Ziegler added 81 on the ground.

Campbell Memorial has lost three straight and falls to 2-5 overall.

The Falcons are in the playoffs for the fifth straight year. Their next assignment is on Saturday night at No. 5 seed Andover Pymatuning Valley in Ashtabula County. The Lakers are 6-0 and have drilled every foe by at least 30 points so far this season.
