The Mount Vernon Yellow Jackets and Ashland Arrows tied 2-2 on Tuesday night in a rainy Ohio Cardinal Conference tilt. The Jackets struck first on a long-distance rip from senior Isaiah Jones, and senior goalkeeper Christian Dean preserved the lead with two diving saves shortly thereafter. But the Arrows found success late in the first half, as junior Owen Sharick and senior Dylan Kruty both scored from close range to give Ashland a 2-1 lead at intermission.

Jones scored once more for Mount Vernon to begin the second half, converting a pin-point transition pass from senior Jacob Deever into a goal with 30:23 remaining. Both defenses would hold stout during the final minutes, however, as the heroics of Dean and Ashland goalkeeper Bryce Thompson prevented either team from breaking the tie.

Mount Vernon is now 7-1-2 overall and 2-1-2 in OCC play. The Jackets will face Newark at home Thursday on Senior Night. Ashland is now 3-5-2 overall and 2-2-1 in OCC play. The Arrows will face New Philadelphia on the road next Tuesday.
