ASHLAND -- The girls high school volleyball season has reached the tournament stage.

Locally, that has a number of area teams looking at their sectional matchups.

Division I

Ashland earned the No. 4 seed in the Division I Northwest District tournament and will host No. 7 Toledo St. Ursula in a sectional final at 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

Madison is the No. 15 seed and plays at No. 10 Bowling Green at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 19

Division II

If Galion is to repeat as district champs, it will be in a bigger division.

After winning a Division III district title last fall, Galion has moved up to Division II. The Tigers recently put the finishing touches on their fourth straight Mid-Ohio Athletic Conference championship and earned the No. 2 seed in the Division II district tournament.

Galion (14-4) has an opening round bye and will open postseason play against either Shelby or Clear Fork at home at 5 p.m. Oct. 21. The eighth-seeded Whippets and No. 9 Colts meet at Shelby at 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

In the bottom portion of the bracket, No. 6 Ontario took an opening-round bye and awaits the winner of top-seeded Sandusky Perkins and No. 13 Clyde. No. 12 Lexington is at No. 5 Bellevue at 5 p.m. Oct. 19, while No. 14 Mansfield Senior visits No. 4 Vermilion at 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

Division III

The most interesting local matchup in the Division III Northwest District tournament will see No. 6 Crestview host No. 9 Colonel Crawford at 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

No. 5 Wynford hosts No. 7 Willard at 5 p.m. Oct. 19, while No. 13 Bucyrus is at No. 8 Western Reserve at 5 p.m. Oct. 19.

In the Northeast District, No. 12 Mapleton is at No. 13 Chippewa at 6 p.m. Oct. 22. In the Central District, No. 12 Centerburg will play either No. 3 Cardington or No. 19 KIPP Columbus at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 24 while No. 11 Fredericktown is at No. 7 Worthington Christian at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 24.

Division IV

Buckeye Central earned the No. 2 seed in the Division IV Northwest District tournament and took an opening-round bye. The Buckettes will play either St. Peter’s or South Central for a sectional title at 5 p.m. Oct. 22 in New Washington.

The seventh-seeded Trojans will host the 12th-seeded Spartans at 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

Also in the bottom portion of the bracket, No. 8 Crestline will host No. 9 Mansfield Christian at 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

In the upper half of the bracket, No. 6 Lucas will visit No. 5 Mohawk at 5 p.m. Oct. 20. No. 11 Plymouth is at No 10 New London at 5 p.m. Oct. 20.

In the Northeast District tournament, Loudonville earned the No. 3 seed and took a first-round bye. The Redbird will host either Columbia or Cuyahoga Heights at 4 p.m. Oct 24 in the sectional championship.

No. 7 Hillsdale hosts No. 12 Faiurport Harbor Harding at 6 p.m. Oct. 20.

In the Central District, No. 8 Danville will host either No. 9 Northside Christian or No. 10 Grove City Christian at 6 p.m. Oct. 22, while No. 17 East Knox visits No. 2 Newark Catholic at 6 p.m. Oct. 22.
