GALION — South Central took advantage of every Plymouth miscue Wednesday afternoon.

The fifth-seeded Big Red committed eight errors resulting in 11 unearned runs in a 12-3 loss to the second-seeded Trojans in a Division IV district semifinal game at Heise Park.

Plymouth (11-13) trailed 4-3 going to the bottom of the sixth when the wheels came off. South Central (16-8) scored eight runs on five hits and three costly errors. SC’s Weston June laced a two-run triple while Caiden Wilson had a run-scoring double in the inning.

June led the Trojans with three hits, three RBIs and two runs scored. Bryan Chaffee was 3-for-4 with two runs.

Jarrett Burrer and Garrett Bishop each had a double for the Big Red. Burrer scored a run while Bishop and Elliott Hall each drove in a run.

Burrer was the hard-luck loser. He gave up six hits and nine runs, but none of them were earned. He struck out five and walked four.

Eric Sanders picked up the win for the Trojans. He went the distance, scattering four hits while striking out eight and walking four.

South Central will play third-seeded Seneca East for the district title at 5 p.m. Friday in Galion. Seneca East beat Mohawk 8-7 in the early game Wednesday.
