JEROMESVILLE — Belle Dalton and her Hillsdale teammates dominated the Wayne County Athletic League during the season and stole the spotlight when the All-WCAL team was announced recently.

A senior catcher, Dalton was selected the league’s MVP after leading the Falcons (22-4, 14-0) to another WCAL title. Coach Hannah Moore was selected the Coach of the Year for a third straight season.

Dalton batted .415 with six home runs, eight doubles and 30 runs batted in. She scored 28 runs.

Hillsdale’s Mollie Goon, Jordyn Fickes, Kennedy Fickes and Keira Filius were all selected to the All-WCAL first team, along with Northwestern’s Kaylee Cherry and Gabby Cubur. Other first-teamers were Norwayne’s Abby Workman and Makenna Heyden, Dalton’s Hannah Wenger and Mykayla Neiger, Waynedale’s Kaitlyn Miller and Chippewa’s Ava Panaciulli.

Hillsdale’s Laci Huber and Northwestern’s Taylor Wurst and Kelsey Smith were second-team picks. The other second-team selections were Norwayne’s Gabby Workman and Riley Gwinn, Dalton’s Ava Fivecoat, Lily Teague, Sydney Geiser and Kenna Doty, Chippewa’s Sky Regan and Katy Gartrell and Smithville’s Caitlin Walsh-Knouff.

Dalton (18-7, 11-3) was WCAL runner-up. Norwayne and Northwestern tied for third in the league standings at 9-5.
