Martha A. Beers, 98
Martha A. Beers, 98 of Ashland passed away peacefully in the early morning on Friday, June 14, 2024 at her home with family by her side.
She was born January 30, 1926 in Steubenville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Carl and Verda (Pickens) Kelley.
Martha graduated from Steubenville High School in 1944, and on April 2, 1945 she married Edward Tuttle. Together they were raising four beautiful children until his untimely passing in 1959. She was a single mother until 1963, when she met and married Matthew Beers. Together they shared 25 years until his passing in 1988.
For 22 years, Martha served as a secretary at St. Joseph’s Hospital in West Virginia. In 1996, she moved from Buchannon, West Virginia to Ashland, Ohio. After retirement, she spent many years as a volunteer at Samaritan Hospital. She enjoyed reading and when she found a good book, she would not put it down until it was finished.
Martha is survived by two daughters, Lynne Clewell of Ashland and Barbara (Dwayne) Floyd of Manasses, Virginia; one son James Tuttle of Ashland along with nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and two loving husbands, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Diane Ebel in 1981, her brother, Carl Musgrave, her son-in-law, Arnold Clewell, Jr. along with three grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, June 20, 2024 at 6:30 pm in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home, 313 Center Street, Ashland, Ohio with Pastor Harry Strachan presiding. Interment will be in the Mount Nebo Cemetery in Buckhanon, West Virginia.
Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Calvary Baptist Church, 210 Davis Road, Ashland, OH 44805.
