LEXINGTON — Motorcycle enthusiasts will have plenty of options during AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The annual three-day extravaganza — officially the Permco AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days presented by Yamaha — is bigger and better than ever. Festivities begin Friday and run through Sunday.
“There’s never a shortage of racing fun at VMD, and 2024 will be no exception,” AMA Director of Racing Mike Pelletier said. “With the addition of new classes, alongside the wide range of racing opportunities previously offered at VMD, there’s something for racers of all backgrounds this year.”
In addition to racing on Mid-Ohio’s 2.4-mile, 15-turn road course, motorcyclists can take part in hare scrambles (off-rode dirt bike races), flat track racing (held at the Ashland County Fairgrounds), motocross and pit bike racing.
The schedule of events also includes a series of seminars and a question-and-answer and autograph sessions with Grand Marshal Broc Glover. The San Diego native was a six-time AMA Motocross National champion.
“I am really looking forward to this year’s AMA Vintage Motorcycle Days at Mid-Ohio,” Glover said. “Sadly, I’ve never been to VMD, but it’s been on my bucket list for years. … I look forward to taking in the sights and sounds that vintage motorcycling offers, and spending time with some of the most loyal enthusiasts in the world.”
Then there is the swap meet, billed as the biggest of its kind in North America. This year’s swap meet will include a record 825 vendors.
“The swap meet at Vintage Motorcycle Days is in a league of its own when it comes to finding the coolest motorcycles, parts and moto memorabilia,” AMA Editorial Director Mitch Boehm said. “With this year’s swap meet being the largest ever, there’s sure to be some amazing finds.”
