ASHLAND — The following criminal charges were filed in January with the Ashland County Common Pleas Court.

Indictments

The following nine people were the subject of an indictment and have or will appear before the Ashland County Common Pleas Court: 

  • Susan Canfield, 52, of West Salem, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs. Her charge was filed by the Ashland County Sheriff’s Office Jan. 30, in connection to an incident authorities say happened Jan. 28.
  • Nathan Cline, 38, of Nankin, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs. The Ashland Police Department filed the charge Jan. 13. It came in connection to an incident authorities say happened Jan. 12.
  • Jerihmai Craft, 26, of Bellville, was charged with theft. The charge was filed Jan. 9 by an Ashland County grand jury, in connection to incidents authorities say happened between Oct. 12-Dec. 3, 2024.
  • Joshua W. Duewel, 31, of Ashland, received five counts: one for improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle; one for operating a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, a drug of abuse or a combination of them; one for failure to stop after an accident; one for operating a motor vehicle or agricultural tractor without being in control of it; and one for failure to comply with opened container of beer or liquor laws. The Ohio State Highway Patrol filed his charges on Jan. 10. The charges came in connection to incidents authorities say happened Jan. 9.
  • Shane Hogle, 30, of Mansfield, was charged with disseminating matter harmful to juveniles. His charge was filed Jan. 27 by the Ashland Police Department. It came in connection to an incident authorities say happened Nov. 24, 2024.
  • James Hullinger, 54, of New London, was charged with being a fugitive of justice. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Department filed the charge Jan. 21 in connection to an incident authorities say happened Jan. 19.
  • Edsel Kiser, 49, of Ashland, was charged with failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer. The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office filed the charge Jan. 8. The charge came in connection to an incident authorities say happened the same day.
  • Stephen Walters, 50, of Ashland, was charged with one count of strangulation and one count of domestic violence. The Ashland Police Department filed the charge Jan. 24 in connection to incidents authorities say happened Dec. 16, 2024.
  • April Christine Wright, 44, of Ashland, was charged with aggravated possession of drugs. The charge was filed Jan. 9 by an Ashland County grand jury in connection to an incident authorities say happened Nov. 20, 2024.
