Your drive home may be a bit slippery Wednesday.

The National Weather Service office in Cleveland has issued a winter weather advisory for Wednesday from 1 to 7 p.m. across a section of Ohio that includes Richland and Ashland counties.

Earlier in the day, it appeared the frozen precipitation may remain north of the area.

But now the NWS said mixed frozen precipitation is expected with total snow and sleet accumulations of up to an inch and ice accumulations up to one-tenth of an inch.

“Plan on slippery road conditions and periodic poor visibility,” the NWS said. “The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday evening commute.”

It was 31 degrees in Mansfield at 1 p.m. and the high will be around 33 by the time the clock ticks to 7 p.m. It will then get warmer through the evening, rising to around 40 by midnight.

There is a 30 percent chance of snow Thursday, mainly between 3 and 5 p.m. Less than half an inch of new snow accumulation is expected.

It will be mainly cloudy, breezy and cold Thursday night with wind chill values as low as zero.
