ASHLAND — For Ashland Source’s weekly WRDL slot, I hopped on for a rundown of a pair of my latest stories.

The first focused on the impact of longtime Ashland High business teacher Kim Rogers’ retirement. Three business courses previously offered at the high school won’t be available on campus anymore with her departure.

That story was one of Ashland Source‘s most-read last week. WRDL hosts gave me a chance to peel the curtain back on how I went about telling it, along with asking some insightful questions about the impact of her retirement and how people have responded to that news.

We also caught up about the latest from city council. I don’t typically tackle our local government beat, but jumped into a really interesting meeting earlier this week.

About half of the meeting was dedicated to discussing a proposal from Ashland University to vacate half of Jefferson Street, which runs between the school’s convocation center and the Burger King on Claremont. It’s sometimes used as a cut-through between Broad Street and Claremont Avenue.
