OLIVESBURG — Crestview senior Justice Thompson won’t go out without a bang.

The 6-foot-5 senior guard, who averages 25.5 points per game, erupted again on Friday night.

He welcomed the tournament challenge by pumping in 22 points, grabbing 10 rebounds and handing out four assists to lead the Cougars to a 66-44 Division VI district championship beating of No. 8-seed Bucyrus.

This marked Crestview’s third consecutive sectional championship.

It was a memorable one for Thompson, who also broke the school record for career 3-pointers. The new mark now sits at 145 treys.

Tyson Ringler chipped in nine points for the second-seeded Cougars, while Drew Spoerr added eight.

Crestview will take a 16-6 record into Wednesday’s 8:15 p.m. district semifinal at Ontario High School against No. 4-seed Seneca East. The Tigers (15-8) upset third-seeded Monroeville 41-31 on Friday night in their sectional title clash.

Bucyrus finished the season 1-21.
