ASHLAND — Ashland County commissioners opened three bids related to roadwork on Thursday. 

Commissioners opened a of total 13 bids for the three projects that will amount to around $2.5 million, according to estimates.

Ashland County Engineer Ed Meixner said he would review each bid and return to the commissioners in April to recommend which companies to hire. 

The projects — characterized as annual maintenance work — involve sealing cracks, pavement marking and asphalt paving along county roads.

Asphalt paving project

Meixner said the estimate for the project was $1,980,000. The money will lead to the paving of 20.5 miles of road throughout the county. Below are the bids opened Thursday:

  • Shelly and Sands: $2,359,254.10
  • Melway Paving: $1,990,824.90
  • Ronyak Paving: $2,145,629.47
  • Kokosing: $2,255,816.65
  • Karvo Companies Inc.: $2,576,525.10
  • Sarver Paving Co.: $1,831,627.63

Pavement marking project

Meixner said the estimate for the project was $335,000, which would pay for painting markings along 280 miles of county roads. Below are the bids opened Thursday:

  • Arro-Mark Company: $297,361
  • Oglesby Construction: $306,388
  • American Roadway Logistics: $282,974
  • JD Striping & Services: $289,700

Sealant project

Meixner said the estimate for the project was $250,000. Below are the bids opened Thursday:

  • Small’s Sand and Gravel Inc.: $328,500
  • Sarver Paving: $218,250
  • Melway Paving: $229,500
