CLEVELAND – Found in Ohio, a website dedicated to local history, is starting a new video series that will be hosted on YouTube.

The series asks local historical societies’ “what’s the most interesting artifact in your collection?”

Upcoming videos explore the collections of the Weymouth Preservation Society in Medina County, the Seneca County Historical Society in Tiffin, the Dublin Historical Society in Franklin County, and the Mishkan Or Museum in Beachwood.

Amanda Sedlak-Hevener, owner of Found in Ohio, said that she, “believes that local historical societies and small museums don’t get the attention that they deserve.”

She created the website, Found in Ohio, in order to tell the stories left behind in old historic houses, hard-to-locate cemeteries, and more.

It’s her wish to help people realize that local history is interesting and important. Between Found in Ohio’s posts and Artifact Adventures videos, she hopes that people will do just that.

More About Found in Ohio

Found in Ohio was founded in 2021 after years of exploring the state of Ohio and all of the interesting local history that it contains. The website is run by Amanda Sedlak-

Hevener, a trained historian with an MA in History from the University of Akron and an MLIS in Museum Studies from Kent State University.

She dispels the myth that local history is only the work of interested amateurs.

Found in Ohio celebrates the everyday people who helped build the state into what it is today by examining what is regularly overlooked.
