SHELBY — One disastrous inning undid Crestview.
The third-seeded Cougars gave up six runs in the top of the sixth and couldn’t recover in a 10-5 loss to No. 4 Colonel Crawford in a Division VI district semifinal at Shelby.
Crestview trailed 4-3 after five inning, but came unglued in the sixth. Colonel Crawford had four of its eight hits in the frame and took advantage of two costly errors, a wild pitch and a walk. Gabe Stratton had an inside-the-park home run in the frame, while Grady Riggle tripled.
Gavin Barker belted a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh for Crestview. Barker had three hits on the day, while Tyson Ringler and Landon Fulk each had two and drove in a run. Kayn Patton was 1-for-4 with an RBI.
Riggle led the Eagles with two hits. Nate McCartney doubled, knocked in a run and scored a run.
Van Wintersteller went the distance for Colonel Crawford. He allowed nine hits while striking out seven and walking four.
Ringler went 5.1 innings for Cretview. He allowed five runs on five hits while striking out nine and walking three.
Colonel Crawford will play second-seeded Western Reserve in the district final at 5 p.m. Friday at Shelby. Western Reserve knocked off top-seeded Wynford 9-2 Wednesday.
