MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP — There’s a new wedding venue in town.
Well, technically, Union Manor is just outside of Ashland — in Montgomery Township. There, you’ll find 18 acres of groomed lawns, brick-laid courtyards, a pond and accompanying bridal suite and a remodeled house and barn from the 1800s.
John and Maria Foster bought the place in 2024. The couple has lived in the 1882 farmhouse since then. They’ve also hosted about a dozen weddings.
Soon, they’ll move.
“It was like we were always ‘on,’” he said.
“In the future, the house will be part of a VIP package for couples looking to get married and stay on the property for a little while.”
They’ve been “on” for the last 25 years or so, having owned Foster’s Down Under and Tequila Saloon in Mansfield.
It will be nice to operate the hospitality business from afar for a while, the Fosters said.
Friends, family and community members came out to the venue on Thursday to welcome Union Manor to Ashland. The Ashland Chamber of Commerce cut a ceremonial ribbon, as guests milled about the property and enjoyed food from local caterers.
The Fosters said there are still some dates available in 2025. But they’ve already started booking into 2026 and 2027.
Prices range between $4,000 to $6,000 for in-season days, and $3,500 to $5,500 in the off season.
The premium package includes amenities such as tables and chairs, a day-of coordinator, event insurance, bartenders and more.
