DALTON — Hillsdale’s methodical football monster pounced on Dalton Friday night to collect a convincing, 35-6 Wayne County Athletic League road win.
The Falcons moved on top in the first quarter when junior Kael Lewis tossed a 20-yard touchdown strike to Knox Lewis for a 7-0 lead. The duo repeated that connection to start the second quarter for a 14-0 bulge.
Running back Owen Sloan then got loose for an 80-yard touchdown jaunt to push the margin to 21-0 at halftime.
Sloan broke free again in the third period for a 10-yard scoring run and Kael Lewis contributed an 18-yard TD dash. That made it 35-0 after three quarters and triggered a running clock.
Dalton avoided the shutout with Conner Mori’s 5-yard touchdown plunge in the final period.
Hillsdale ran for 242 yards and passed for 151 more in a balanced effort. Sloan ripped off 187 yards rushing with a pair of touchdowns. Knox Lewis had five catches for 79 yards and a couple of scores.
The Falcons are now 5-0 overall, 2-0 in the WCAL. Coach Trevor Cline’s club hosts undefeated Smithville next week in a monster showdown.
The Bulldogs fall to 3-2, 0-2 and are at Northwestern on Friday night.
