ASHLAND — The Ashland County Board of Elections needs more poll workers ahead of the Nov. 4 election.

Sharon Risner, elections specialist for the Ashland County Board of Elections, said there’s a nine-person gap, as of Oct. 20. The organization has 131 workers (they’re known as Precinct Election Officials) lined up for Nov. 4, but it needs 140.

There are 14 polling locations throughout Ashland County’s 39 precincts. Risner said both the Bethel Baptist Church in Savannah and the Eagles Club have the greatest need for workers.

Workers earn $120 on Election Day, but additional pay is available for those who take on additional responsibilities, Risner said. A “Voting Location Manager” who works for the city of Ashland, for example, earns an extra $15.

Training week will take place Oct. 27 to 30 with several times on those days to choose from. Training is also paid.

  • You must be a registered voter in Ashland County.
  • You must be able to work for the entire election day.
  • Must have reliable transportation to ensure your arrival at your assigned polling location no later than 5:45 a.m. on election day.
  • You must be willing to attend a training session, in which you will be compensated.
