ASHLAND — Ashland University Student Orginizations will honor Veterans Day with a
powerful and reflective event titled “Vietnam Survival: There and Home,” scheduled for
Nov. 11, 2025, at 6 p.m. in the Ashland University Chapel.

This special program will feature Vietnam veteran and author Greg Gorrell, who will lead a
discussion on the physical, emotional, and societal effects of the Vietnam War—both during the conflict and in the decades since.

Gorrell, who has dedicated much of his life to sharing veterans’ stories and advocating for greater understanding of their experiences, will offer firsthand insight into the challenges of war and the long journey home many veterans continue to face.

The event is designed to honor veterans, educate the public, and foster thoughtful dialogue
about the lasting impacts of Vietnam on service members and the nation. Students, faculty,
community members, and veterans are encouraged to attend.

“We are proud to welcome Greg Gorrell to Ashland University for this important conversation,” event organizers said. “Veterans Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by those who served, and this event provides an opportunity to learn, reflect, and show gratitude.”

This Veterans Day program is supported in part by Ashland University College Republicans, ‘In a Soldier’s Shoes Foundation’, and Ashland University Veterans Center.
