MANSFIELD – Maharlika Martial Arts Concepts, 27 E. 4th Street, marked two major milestones on Tuesday, the promotion of three adult students to the rank of Black Sash and the celebration of the school’s 30th anniversary.

Anthony Overton and Levi Sigler were promoted to Guro Una (1st Degree Black Sash), and Mary Cabrera-Kennardearned the title of Guro (2nd Degree Black Sash). The ceremony honored their years of dedication, discipline, and commitment to preserving the warrior arts of Southeast Asia.

Founded in 1995 under the tutelage of Maha Guro Victorio B. Cabrera, Maharlika Martial Arts Concepts teaches the indigenous arts of Filipino Kali and Indonesian Pencak Silat —dynamic systems that emphasize striking, joint manipulation, tactical movement, and mental focus.

These arts are rooted in cultural heritage and personal growth, cultivating both strength and respect in practice.

Born in Mindanao and raised on Negros Island in the Central Visayas region of the Philippines, Maha Guro Victor was first trained by his father in the Visayan style of Kaliradman.

He continued his martial journey under Guro Steve Bodner, of the Dan Inosanto lineage, and remains an active student through DUMMA Eskrima International and Perguruan Silat Kartika Nusa – Philippines Chapter.

Maharlika Martial Arts Concepts offers classes for youth and adults, emphasizing community, cultural awareness, and lifelong learning.

Victor leads the school alongside his daughter, Guro Mary W. Cabrera, and takes pride in teaching his four grandsons—continuing a four-generation legacy of warriors, teachers, and students dedicated to the art.
