ASHLAND — The Ashland University men’s basketball team leaned on its regional recruits to give the home fans a Happy Thanksgiving sendoff on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles pounded Kent State-Tuscarawas 101-63 in a non-conference game at Kates Gymnasium.

Four AU players scored in double figures, led by Willard redshirt freshman Max Dawson with 19 points. Cooper Davis, a redshirt junior from Olentangy Liberty chipped in 18 points. Redshirt freshman Trent Williams, a Big Walnut grad, chipped in 10 points, and senior Maceo Williams added 10 points and eight rebounds.

The Eagles were in control throughout, forging a 48-28 halftime bulge.

Ashland improved to 5-1 this season. Coach John Ellenwood’s team will be back in action on Sunday at 1 p.m. in a home game against Saginaw Valley State (5-1).
