MOUNT VERNON — A juvenile suspect has been arrested and charged with a Tuesday night stabbing death on King Road in Howard, according to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff Daniel J. Weckesser stated that authorities arrested a juvenile located at the residence on a charge of murder and transported that individual to the Muskingum County Juvenile Detention Center, where Knox County juveniles are held.
The victim’s identity is being withheld at this time to protect family privacy, the sheriff stated. The identity of the juvenile has also not been disclosed.
The sheriff’s office received a report of an injured person at a King Road residence on Dec. 9 at approximately 6:16 p.m., according to a statement from the KCSO.
Deputies responded and discovered the individual was deceased from apparent stab wounds.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Knox County Coroner’s Office and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI), conducted an on-scene investigation.
Weckesser stated that this remains an active and ongoing investigation. No additional details are available at this time.
Authorities have determined this was an isolated incident, and Weckesser said there is no threat to the surrounding community.
