CLAY TOWNSHIP — A Utica man was killed Wednesday morning after a three-vehicle crash in Knox County, according to the Mount Gilead Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Andrew McGee, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Patrol.

The crash occurred 5:58 a.m. at the intersection of Township Road 148 and State Route 586 in Clay Township.

According to the Patrol, Kayla Jacobs, 30, of Newark, was operating a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox northbound on Township Road 148. McGee was operating a 2009 Honda Fit eastbound on State Route 586. David Holmes, 54, of Warsaw, was operating a 2014 Ford Fusion westbound on State Route 586.

The Patrol reported that Ms. Jacobs failed to yield at a stop sign, entered the intersection and was struck by McGee’s vehicle. McGee then drove left of center and struck Holmes’ vehicle.

Jacobs and a 5-year-old passenger were not injured. Holmes sustained minor injuries and was transported to Knox Community Hospital, authorities stated.

Holmes, Jacobs and the 5-year-old passenger were all properly restrained. McGee was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, the Patrol reported.

Alcohol and drug use are not suspected to be contributing factors in this crash, according to the Patrol.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, Bladensburg Fire Department and EMS.

The crash remains under investigation.
