Janet Kay Aulger, 84 of Ashland, passed from this life on Tuesday afternoon, February 17, 2026 in the Good Shepherd Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on August 23, 1941, in Ashland, the daughter of the late Chester A. and Miriam O. (nee Taylor) Wolf.

Janet graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1959. She went on to further her education at Mansfield Business College.

She married the love of her life, Leonard Raymond Aulger on July 15, 1961.

Janet retired after more than 28 years from Ashland Christian School, where she was the school secretary. Throughout her life, she was a devoted member of Southview Grace Brethren Church where she sang in the church choir and was actively involved in the Women’s Missionary Council, which later became Women of Grace. She loved mushroom hunting and was an avid fisherwoman. She was loved to read and to play board games with her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she found that she had a real talent for adult coloring where she actively began sending out monthly mailings to family and friends which she considered to be her ministry of encouragement.

Janet is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Leonard Aulger of Ashland; three children, Lori (Gary) Lower of Ashland, Kathy (Stewart) Bennett of New Albany, Mississippi, and David (Laurie) Aulger of Ashland; seven grandchildren, Morgan and Garrett Lower, Emilee (Zach) Johnson, Nathan (Courtney) Bennett, Bradley (Zoe) Aulger, Shelby (Dylan) Stoltz, and Marina Aulger; and four great grandchildren, Diana, Ernest, Emery, and Eleanor Stoltz.

Janet is preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southview Grace Brethren Church with Pastors Mark and Eric Abel presiding. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southview Grace Brethren Church or Ashland Christian School.

The family would like to thank the staff of Good Shepherd and Pathways Hospice for their thoughtful and loving care for Janet.

For those who may not be able to attend, online condolences may be shared on the funeral home’s website at denbowfh.com.
