Donna M. Giet, 94 of Ashland passed from this life on Sunday, March 1, 2026, just 15 days short of her 95th birthday in Brethren Care Village.
She was born on March 16, 1931, in Wooster, the daughter of the late Lenuel and Marie (nee Lutz) Potts.
Donna graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1949.
She married the love of her life, the former Gustave “Gus” Giet on June 25, 1949. The couple relocated to Sterling, Ohio and returned to Ashland in 1964.
Together the couple took over the operations of Ashland Home Interiors in 1971 and retired in 1995.
Donna was devoted member of Christ United Methodist Church for many years. Throughout her life, Donna was an avid fisherwoman, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, playing cards and marble games and dancing the “Jitter Bug”. She was a loving and caring woman, always so sweet and had the most perfect, beautiful smile.
She is survived by one daughter, Stephanie (Vaughn) Tennis of Perrysville; her son-in-law, John Freitag of Orange City, Florida; two grandchildren, Alicia (Jonathan) Ulrey and Angela (Jake) Pomerenke; three great grandchildren, Hunter, Cooper, and Asher; and her best friend of 90 years, Joan Botdorf of Ashland.
In addition to her parents, Donna is preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years of marriage, Gus who passed from this life on October 6, 2016; one daughter, Pamela Freitag; and a granddaughter, Aimee Jo Freitag.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Southview Grace Brethren Church with Reverend Zach Hess presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Family and friends may visit one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church.
