Russell L. Hedglin, 86, of Ashland, passed away on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, in University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland.

Russell was born on November 5, 1939, in Harmonsburg, Pennsylvania, to the late John and Virena (nee Beers) Hedglin.

He married the love of his life, the former Delberta Ankney on September 30, 1961 at the New Washington United Methodist Church. The happy couple would call Ashland Home in 1963. She preceded him in death on October 6, 2022.

Russell worked at Samaritan Hospital for over 40 years before retiring in 2004. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church. Russell and Delberta enjoyed taking trips to Florida and trips with the church group. He loved spending time with his family and missed Delberta deeply.

He is survived by one daughter, Jean (Scott) Braden of Beach City; two granddaughters, Katherine A. Braden of Los Angeles, California and Rachel E. Braden of Beach City; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Delberta, Russell was preceded in death by four sisters; Shirley Brendle, Doreen Gear, Martha Grinnell, Aleen Reinhart, two brothers; Reginald and Elmer Hedglin.

An interment service will be held Tuesday, March 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. in the Imhoff Cemetery with Reverend Tom Synder and Deaconess Toni McKee presiding.
