In the coming weeks, Ashland Source will highlight area high school graduates who have performed during their fall, winter and spring sports seasons at the college level during the 2025-26 school year.

Featured athletes are from Ashland, Crestview, Hillsdale, Loudonville and Mapleton. The following is a look at those in action during the 2025 fall campaign.

Ashland

● Following a breakout redshirt sophomore season for the Ohio State University men’s golf team, former Arrows star Tyler Sabo continued to shine during the fall portion of his 2025-26 campaign with the Buckeyes.

In mid-October, Sabo logged the best finish of his college career with a 7-under-par 206 at the Moraine Intercollegiate to snag runner-up honors (68-68-70). It was the first time he totaled three under-par rounds at the same event.

Earlier in the fall, Sabo put together finishes of 21st in the Windon Memorial Classic at 3-under-par (76-72-65); 11th in the Bearcat Invitational at 2-under-par (72-68-71); and 28th in the Folds of Honor Collegiate at 7-over-par (75-73-72).

● After putting together a pair of solid seasons at Ohio University in 2023 and 2024, Kadin Schmitz transferred to Division I Charlotte University for the 2025 campaign and quickly became an impact player at linebacker.

The former Ashland All-Ohioan played in 12 games for the 49ers, collecting 66 total tackles as a junior. Schmitz added two interceptions and two forced fumbles for the squad.

Just last week during Charlotte’s “Normies” awards ceremony, Schmitz also was honored as the football team’s MVP for the year.

● A goalkeeper for the NAIA Mount Vernon Nazarene University women’s soccer team, Hannah Miller closed out her college career in style for the Cougars.

In her final game, she set a new program record with 422 career saves. Miller’s 128 saves last fall were a career-high mark in goal, as she was an honorable-mention selection in the Crossroads League for the fourth time.

The Cougars finished 8-8-2 overall (3-6 CL), and the former Ohio Cardinal Conference co-Defensive Player of the Year closed her career with 72 games started (at least 17 all four seasons) and 21 shutouts.

● A junior at NCAA Division III Mount Union, Emma Packard opened her 2025-26 golf season with a variety of solid efforts.

Packard led Mount Union in the two-round Tartan Invitational with a 165 (79-86) and finished tied for second overall in the Heidelberg Fall Invitational with a 153 (76-77).

She also was the Purple Raiders’ top performer when she placed third overall in the Mount Union Fall Invitational with a 78, as well as when she led the squad with an 11th-place, two-round score of 163 (80-83) in the Kyle Campbell Memorial Tournament.

● The NCAA Division III volleyball squad at Grove City College had a breakthrough season, storming its way through the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Tournament for three wins and its first league title in 24 years.

That led to the program’s first NCAA Tournament appearance since 1986. A big part of the Wolverines’ success came from sophomore Lilly Pool. The former Arrow and middle blocker appeared in all 29 matches for Grove City (20-9), notching 113 kills and a team-high 88 block assists.

● Former Arrows star receiver Jon Metzger competed in his junior season for Hillsdale College, taking the field in a variety of ways for the Chargers.

On offense, Metzger finished with 68 total yards and added 42 yards returning kicks.

Defensively, he chipped in nine total tackles for Hillsdale (6-6, 5-4 Great Midwest Athletic Conference).

● The Lake Erie College women’s soccer team totaled the third-highest single-season win total in its history last fall (10-5-4, 7-3-4 Great Midwest Athletic Conference). The Storm did so with some help from sisters Chloe and Caley Biddinger.

Caley Biddinger competed in her redshirt sophomore season as a defender, logging 979 minutes while starting 13 games for LEC.

Chloe Biddinger, meanwhile, wrapped up her junior season competing in 16 games as a defender. She totaled 665 minutes on the pitch.

● For the Ashland University women’s golf program, former four-time state qualifier Klaira Paramore opened up her senior season with the Eagles nicely.

She captured 10th place in the 15-team Ohio Dominican Champions of Women’s Golf event, burying five birdies and closing with a two-round 153 (81-72). Ashland was second as a team at the event, easily its best finish in the fall.

Paramore also had solid finishes that included 26th in the 10-team Gildas Club Laker Fall Invite (77-79–156); 30th at the nine-team Intercollegiate at Nemacolin (81-80-83–244); and 33rd at the 13-team Ferris State Bulldog Fall Classic (81-79–160).

● At Division III John Carroll University, junior Kamden Mowry had a steady fall season.

The former Arrow tied for 10th with a 150 (78-72) in the 60-golfer Gatorade Collegiate, and he also ended up just outside the Top 20 with a 154 (76-78) in the Donald Ross Invitational.

Aidan Chandler opened the fall portion of his senior year with the Division III golf team at Ohio Northern University by firing a 75 in the ONU Kick Off Classic. The 3-over-par effort landed him in eighth place out of 68 golfers and was his top finish of the fall.

● On the cross country course at Ashland University, graduate student Emilie Lemon turned in her top effort at the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championships. The former Arrow helped the Eagles place fifth as a team, turning in a 6k PR time of 22:31.6 for a team-best 22nd place.

Lemon’s other notable finishes for AU came in the 14-team Mike Baumer Classic 5k (23rd in 18:39.5) and the 21-team Lock Haven Invitational 6k (27th in 22:37.7).

● A first-year golfer at Division III John Carroll University, Kyah Huckleberry had a pair of notable performances to begin her college career.

Her 84 in the ONU Kickoff Classic landed her in eighth place overall, while her 85 at the ONU Joe Camponi Memorial was good for 14th.

● Additional Ashland High School graduates rostered on college squads in the fall were Ashland University’s Isaac Roop (redshirt junior in football), Tyler Sauder (freshman in football) and Chaden Sampson (freshman in cross country).

Crestview

● A senior at NAIA Grace College, Morgan Welch closed out a solid fall campaign on the cross country course with a 22:47 in the 6k NAIA Championships. That time landed the former Cougar in 86th out of 331 runners and boosted the Lancers to a 10th-place finish nationally out of 36 squads.

Prior to that, Welch logged a 16th-place finish at the Crossroads League Championships with a 22:31 that helped the Lancers finish as conference runners-up.

In an earlier meet to close out the regular season, Welch’s 18:24 in the 5k Great Lakes Challenge landed her in 22nd in a stacked field of Top 25 teams.

● At NCAA Division II Walsh University, sophomore Caleb Cunningham saw action in six games as an offensive lineman.

The Cavaliers closed their season with a 6-5 overall record (4-5 Great Midwest Athletic Conference).

Hillsdale

● On the football field, David Parker put together a solid junior season for the NCAA Division III College of Wooster squad.

The tight end played in nine games for the Fighting Scots (5-5, 4-4 North Coast Athletic Conference), pulling in 15 catches for 75 yards while also returning a pair of kickoffs for 45 yards and playing a key blocking role.

When the season wrapped up, Parker was named an All-NCAC third-teamer.

● Just a freshman for NCAA Division III Muskingum University, former Falcon Dally Meek began her college career nicely during the fall season.

In her first tournament, Meek led all Muskies on the scorecard with a two-round 180 (91-89) in the Lynn Schweizer Invitational. She followed that with a 17th-place 84 in the Mount Union Fall Invitational.

Meek’s best performance of the fall for MU came during the Randy Sadler Invitational, where she fired a two-round 171 (84-87) to lead the squad to third place.

● Also in Division III, former Hillsdale golfer Jax Rogers factored in as a scorer for the University of Mount Union in the fall portion of its schedule.

Among the sophomore’s best efforts were a two-round 169 (85-84) to tie for 44th in the 11-team Region 5 Showcase; a two-round 172 (83-89) in the 24-team Golfweek Classic; and a two-round 156 (77-79) to tie for 21st in the Mount Union Fall Invitational.

● An additional Hillsdale High School graduate rostered on a college squad in the fall was Division III Baldwin Wallace University’s Holland Young (freshman in football).

Loudonville

● It didn’t take long for the best girls distance runner in Loudonville history to leave her mark on the cross country course at NCAA Division I Florida Gulf Coast University last fall.

A freshman for the Eagles, Tess Shultz clocked a 21:27 in the 6k NCAA South Regionals – good enough for third on her team and 103rd overall. It was the ninth-fastest time in FGCU history and helped land the squad its best-ever team finish at regionals (16th out of 28).

A few weeks earlier at the 5k Atlantic Sun Conference Championships, Shultz helped the Eagles claim fourth out of 12 teams with her 17:35 clocking – good for 25th overall and making her the fastest freshman in FGCU history.

● Despite dealing with injuries during her junior volleyball season at Geneva College, Katie Seboe still managed to play in 17 matches last fall for the Golden Tornadoes.

Seboe totaled 97 kills and was third on the team in blocks (18). She’ll enter her senior season having played in 67 matches and collected 319 kills, 74 digs and 117 blocks for the NCAA Division III program.

● Additional Loudonville High School graduates rostered on college squads in the fall was NAIA Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s Isaac Gessner (junior in golf) and NCCAA Ohio Christian University’s Judah Layton (freshman in golf).

Mapleton

● In his senior season for the Division III Ohio Northern University men’s golf team, Evan Dennison had some big finishes in the fall.

The former Mountie’s top two efforts were even-par rounds, as he claimed third out of 68 linksters with a 72 in the ONU Kick Off Classic and seventh out of 55 with a 71 in Trine’s Ken Venturi Invitational.

● A former Mid-Buckeye Conference Player of the Year and Mapleton’s record-holder for goals scored, Brinlee Youngen performed as a sophomore soccer player for Division II Lake Erie College.

A forward, she played in 15 games for the Storm, turning in 261 minutes of action for a team that collected the third-most wins in its history (10-5-4 overall record).
