MOUNT VERNON — Ohio Eastern Star Home announces the retirement of CEO Michele Engelbach on July 3 following 14 years of dedicated leadership and service to the organization and the senior living community.
During her tenure, Engelbach led the organization through significant growth, innovation, and transformation.
Notable accomplishments include the opening of the Esther Buchwald Neighborhoods for long-term care in 2016 and the grand opening of Pine Hill Independent Senior Living in December 2024.
These milestones strengthened Ohio Eastern Star Home’s commitment to providing exceptional care, services, and living options for older adults.
“It has been an incredible honor to serve Ohio Eastern Star Home and the residents, families, and staff who make this community so special,” Engelbach said. “Over the past 14 years, I have had the privilege of witnessing countless meaningful moments and working alongside a dedicated team committed to excellence in senior care.”
Engelbach also guided the organization through the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, helping maintain stability and continuity of care while supporting residents, families, and team members during a critical time.
To support a seamless leadership transition, Engelbach will remain with Ohio Eastern Star Home in a part-time capacity following retirement. She will also continue to be actively involved in the ongoing expansion of Pine Hill Independent Senior Living, helping to ensure the project’s successful completion.
Ohio Eastern Star Home is pleased to welcome Nathaneal “Blu” Johnson as the incoming CEO.
Blu brings many years of experience in long-term care and health care organizations, offering strong expertise and leadership to the role. He is a thoughtful and caring leader who will help continue advancing the organization’s mission and building upon its tradition of excellence in service and care.
“We are grateful for Engelbach’s years of dedicated service, vision, and leadership,” said Scott Riddle, Chair of the Board of Trustees. “The impact of her work will be felt for years to come.”
Following retirement, Engelbach plans to spend time traveling and enjoying new opportunities while remaining connected in a part-time capacity to the Ohio Eastern Star Home community.
