Marc J. Sponsler, 74 of Ashland passed away on Monday evening, May 18, 2026, in OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital.
He was born on March 2, 1952, in Ashland, the son of the late Raymond and Dorothy (nee Wagner) Sponsler.
Marc graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1970. He went on and further his education and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Ohio University in 1974.
He married the love of his life, the former Valerie Kay Wright, on September 18, 1995.
Marc retired after more than 35 years from Centerra, formerly Town & Country.
He was a member of Grace Brethren Church where he helped with the boys’ youth group. Throughout his life Marc enjoyed golf, bowling at Luray Lane on the leagues for more than 20 years, gardening, coin collecting, and church league fast pitch softball.
Marc is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mrs. Valerie Sponsler of Ashland; five children, Jeanette (Duane) Wagner of Shelby, Chris (Heather) Bahr of Ashland, Jason (Lisa) Sponsler of Taylorsville, Kentucky, David Bahr of Ashland, and Brittany (Doug) Eichelberger of Ashland; nine grandchildren, Payton, Kole, Ava, Maryn, Sydney, Evan, Chase, Max, and Retta; four siblings, Cheryl (Dan) Welch of Ashland, Brent (Jane) Sponsler of Ashland, Barry (Linda) Sponsler of Ashland, Patti (Keith) Horton of Columbus; numerous nieces and nephews; and Valerie’s brother, Dave (Brenda) Wright of Ashland.
Marc is preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in the Denbow-Gasche Funeral Home with Reverend Dan Allan presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland Cemetery. Friends and family may visit on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
